2022 Gold Quarter Sovereign

The 2022 Quarter Sovereign is a British gold coin, minted by the Royal Mint. The weight of the coin is 1.997 grams with a fineness of 916.7 (22 carat gold), this means it contains 1.8306 grams of pure gold. The diameter of the coin is 13.5 mm. The Quarter Sovereigns have a face value of 25 Pence (1/4 of a Pound) and are legal tender in the UK.

The coin has no mintmark, indicating it was struck by The Royal Mint in Llantrisant, Wales.

Obverse: The obverse of the Queen Elizabeth II 2022 Gold 1/4 Sovereign features the fifth head portrait, designed by Jody Clark. This effigy of Queen Elizabeth II shows her profile facing right, wearing the diamond crown. It is the fifth official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to be used on coins minted by the Royal Mint. The sculptor's initials, 'J.C', are visible at the bottom of the head.

The inscription on the coin reads 'ELIZABETH II.DEI.GRA.REGINA.FID.DEF'.

Reverse: The reverse of the 2022 Gold Quarter Sovereign features the British Royal Coat of Arms to mark the 70th anniversary of Elizabeth II's reign. The design is by Timothy Noad, and the sculptor's monogram T.N. is visible above the ribbon, along with the year of issue.
