A 1917 Gold Sovereign made by the Royal Mint. This 22 carat gold coin features King George V on the obverse side and St George slaying the dragon on the reverse. 

The "C" mintmark appears just above the date 1917 on the back and denotes production took place at the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa, Canada. This site is still the headquarters of the Canadian Mint to this day.
