Description

This 1989 Proof gold Sovereign was issued as a very special and collectible anniversary coin to mark 500 years of the Sovereign.

The design, by Bernard Sindall, shows Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side, sat on the throne in a style mimicking that of Elizabeth I. The reverse is very similar to the original English Sovereigns too, with the Royal Arms overlaid on a double Tudor rose with a crown above.
