Description

A very rare 1937 Proof gold Half Sovereign from the reign of George VI with a mintage of only 5,501. This was the only year that George VI gold Half Sovereigns were minted. The coins were part of a four-coin gold Proof set (also known as a Specimen Set) released to celebrate the coronation of King George. It has a smooth edge rather than being milled.

Graded to PF62 (AUNC). Slightly weak or average strike with no trace of wear. More or larger abrasions than an MS/PF 63.
