The 2024 Tudor Dragon 1oz gold proof coin is a part of The Royal Tudor Beasts Collection that pays tribute to the stone sculptures on the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court Palace, which were commissioned by Henry VIII almost 500 years ago. The Dragon was adopted by Henry Tudor (later King Henry VII) to emphasise his Welsh heritage when he was raising an army against Richard II in preparation for the Battle of Bosworth.
The coin's design, created by collection artist David Lawrence, features the dragon holding a shield with portcullis. It comes with packaging that explores the origin and fascinating history of the Dragon emblem in British heritage. The reverse of the coin features the official coinage portrait of His Majesty King Charles III.
This 2024 Tudor Dragon 1oz gold proof coin has a limited production run of only 250 coins. It is struck to 999 fine gold, and is a unique and valuable addition to any collection as a symbol of the rich family history of the British Royal Family.
