Description

The 2011 Britannia 1oz is a British gold coin, minted by the Royal Mint. The weight of the coin is 34.05 grams with a fineness of 916.7 (22 carat gold), this means it contains 31.10348 grams of pure gold. The diameter of the coin is 32.60mm. The 1oz Britannias have a face value of 100 Pounds and are legal tender in the UK.

Obverse: The obverse of the Queen Elizabeth II 2011 Britannia 1oz Gold Coin features the fourth head portrait, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. This effigy of Queen Elizabeth II shows her profile facing right, wearing a diamond tiara. It is the fourth official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to be used on coins minted by the Royal Mint. The sculptor's initials, 'IRB', are visible at the bottom of the head.

The inscription on the coin reads 'ELIZABETH II.D.G REG.FID.DEF'.

Reverse: The reverse of the 2011 1oz Gold Britannia features the image of lady Britannia seated with a Union Flag. The design was created by the sculptor David Mach.
