Minimum of Good to Fair condition and a random year of our choice. This gold Sovereign features the portrait of Queen Victoria by Leonard Charles Wyon. The reverse has a wreath and crown and the words "SYDNEY MINT, AUSTRALIA, ONE SOVEREIGN".
The Sydney Branch Mint minted Sovereigns from 1855 to 1870, and these are the only Sovereigns to have ever featured the words "ONE SOVEREIGN". As they were the first Sovereigns to be minted outside the UK, there were concerns that the quality of the coins would not be up to standard. They wanted the coins to be easily identifiable, so they could be removed from circulation easily if required.
