Description

The 1824 20 Francs is a French gold coin, minted by the Monnaie de Paris. The weight of the coin is 6.451 grams with a fineness of 900 (21 carat gold), this means it contains 5.806 grams of pure gold. The diameter of the coin is 21 mm.

The coin has the mintmark A, indicating it was struck at the Monnaie de Paris, France.

Obverse: The obverse of the Louis XVIII 1824 20 French Francs depicts the bare head portrait, designed by Auguste-François Michaut. This effigy of Louis XVIII shows his profile pointing to the right. The name of the sculptor, 'MICHAUT F', is visible at the base of the head.

The inscription on the coin reads 'LOUIS XVIII ROI DE FRANCE'.

Reverse: The reverse of the 1824 Gold 20 Francs features a crowned coat of arms with 20 F on each side of the shield and two olive branches. The year of issue 1824 and the mint mark are visible at the bottom of the coin.
