Description

A 2017 Griffin of Edward 1oz gold coin, graded to MS69 (FDC). A fully struck coin with nearly imperceptible imperfections.

The picture is taken of a coin of the stated grade. You may not receive the exact coin pictured, but it will be a coin of the same grade and will be graded and slabbed by the same numismatic grading service.

This beautiful coin is the second of the "Queen's Beasts" series, and features the Griffin of Edward III. The coin is fine gold and weighs one troy ounce (31.1grams).

The Royal Mint issued an initial 5,000 coins, though the Queen's Beast series is officially of unlimited mintage until the end of the year of issue.

The Queen's Beasts are ten statues which stood guard for the Queen's Coronation, sculpted by James Woodford RA in 1953. The Queen's Beasts are still standing, but are currently housed at the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec, Canada. Stone replicas of the statues can be found at Kew Gardens.

This coin has a face value of £100 and just like other British currency, this coin will be exempt of any Capital Gains Tax when you are ready to sell.
