A 2022 one ounce South African Krugerrand gold coin.
As the most popular gold bullion coin in the world these Krugerrands offer a great value way to invest in gold. The coins contain exactly 1 troy ounce (31.103 grams) of fine (24-carat) gold but weigh a total of 33.93 grams, which is more than a troy ounce.
They are deliberately heavier because of a small amount of copper added by the South African Mint to give the coin a unique colour and make it resistant to scratches, this extra metal is why the overall purity of the coin is 22-carat.
