2014 Gold Britannia Coin 1oz Privy Horse Edge

The 2014 Britannia 1oz is a British gold coin, minted by the Royal Mint. The weight of the coin is 31.21 grams with a fineness of 999.9 (24 carat gold), this means it contains 31.10348 grams of pure gold. The diameter of the coin is 32.69 mm. The 1oz Britannias have a face value of 100 Pounds and are legal tender in the UK.

2014 1oz Britannia Horse Privy Mark: The 2014 one ounce gold Britannia coin, has a special horse Privy Mark along the rim of the coin, to mark the Year of the Horse. The coin is limited to a production of 10,000 coins by The Royal Mint and was originally intended for the U.S. market only. This was the first time that The Royal Mint produced a gold coin with a privy (i.e. hidden) symbol along the rim, increasing the collectors interest in the coin.

This effigy of Queen Elizabeth II shows her profile facing right, wearing a diamond tiara. It is the fourth official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to be used on coins minted by the Royal Mint. The sculptor's initials, 'IRB', are visible at the bottom of the head.

The inscription on the coin reads 'ELIZABETH II.D.G REG.FID.DEF'.

Reverse: The reverse of the 2014 1oz Gold Britannia features the classic figure of Lady Britannia, designed by Philip Nathan, with the text 'NATHAN' at the bottom of the coin.
