A collectable grade, hammered, silver Shilling of King Charles I. The mint mark of "Portcullis" shows it was struck in 1633 or 1634. The obverse features the crowned bust facing left, with "VI" behind to indicate a Sixpence. The reverse shows oval garnished shield of Royal arms. This Silver Shilling was struck just before the famous battle of "Naseby" in June 1645 where Oliver Cromwell defeated the Royalist army led by the king.

Obverse
Group D,Type 3, Large bust breaking inner circle facing left with falling laced collar. Mint mark "Portcullis" CAROLVS.D.G.MA.BR:FRA.ET.HIB.REX.

Reverse
Oval garnished shield of royal arms with C and R at the sides. Mint mark "Portcullis" CHRISTO.AVSPICE.REGNO.
