A very scarce silver Halfcrown of King Charles I, struck during the English Civil War at the short lived Royalist mint of York in the year 1643 or 1644.

The obverse features the attractive equestrian portrait of the King on horseback, with the words 'EBOR' below representing the York mint. The reverse shows the crowned oval shield of Royal Arms, with the 'Lion' mint mark to both sides of the coin. This stunning Halfcrown is in good very fine condition, with even grey tone, and represents a great piece of English history to be held in your hand.

Equestrian portrait's 2F. King on horseback with tail between legs. 'EBOR' below. CARLOVS.DG.MAG.BRIT.FRAN.ET.HIB.REX. Mint mark 'Lion'.

Crowned oval shield of Royal Arms with no CR or floral spray. CHRISTO.AUSPICE.REGNO. Mint mark 'Lion'.
