A collectable and Scarce Silver Hammered Three Farthings of Queen Elizabeth the First dated 1573. On the obverse the Third or Fourth issue bust of Queen Elizabeth facing right, with rose behind. The reverse features a square topped shield with the date 1573 above and the mint mark "Acorn". Queen Elizabeth the First reigned for 45 years unmarried and when this small Silver Three Farthings was struck in 1573, Sir Francis Drake was preparing the "Golden Hind" to sail around the world.
