Description

A collectable grade, silver "Sovereign" penny of King Henry VIII sitting on his throne. This is from the second coinage issue, struck at the mint of Durham. The reverse has a cross over shield with "CD" beside, indicating it was struck under Bishop Cuthbert Tunstall, The Bishop of Durham. Toned, slightly uneven, but still a bold example in high grade.

Obverse
Second coinage "sovereign" type. King sitting on throne, mintmark radiant star, obverse only D G ROSA SINE SPINA.

Reverse
Long cross fourchee over royal shield. mintmark "Tun" London POSVI DEV ADIVITORE MEV.
