A collectable Silver Twopence (aka Half Groat) of King James II. The crowned bust facing right with II behind it indicates Half Groat (Twopence). A large royal shield of arms to the reverse, with the mintmark "Thistle" above for the year 1603-4.
This coin was made leading up to the famous Gunpowder plot, when on the 5th November 1605, there was a failed attempt to blow up the House of Lords and remove King James the First from the throne.
Condition: Very Fine.
