A collectable, high grade Silver Shilling of King James the First from the second coinage issue. The coin has the mint mark "Lis" to both sides showing the year 1604-5. The third bust facing right has XII behind in roman numerals for the denomination of shilling. The reverse has the Royal shield of arms .

This coin was made during the famous gunpowder plot when on the 5th November 1605, which was a failed attempt to blow up the House of lords and remove King James the First from the throne.

Condition: Very Fine.

Obverse: Third crowned bust with square beard features facing right of James I with XII behind for the denomination shilling. Mint mark "Lis". JACOBUS D G MAG BRIT FRAN ET HIB REX

Reverse: Second coinage, Square royal shield within inner circle, mint mark Lis. QUAE DEUS CONIUNXIT NEMO SEPERET
