Description

A very collectable, high-grade, hammered gold Laurel of King James I. The obverse features the fourth laureate bust in armour, facing left, with "XX" representing 20 shillings. The reverse shows a long-cross over the Royal Shield of arms. The mintmark of "Trefoil" representing the minting date of 1613, when "heretics" were burned at the stake for the last time in England.
