A collectable, silver Halfcrown with the unusual double busts of William and Mary, dated 1689.
On the reverse is a large crown above a quartered shield, the shield contains the three lions of England, the lion rampant of Scotland, the harp of Ireland and the three fleurs de lys of France. An inescutcheon (small shield) inside the main shield again bears the lion rampant this time because it is the arms of the house of Orange-Nassau.
The text reads 'GULIELMUS ET MARIA DEI GRATIA' on the obverse and 'MAG BR FR ET HIB REX ET REGINA' on the reverse which together mean 'William and Mary, by the Grace of God King and Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland'.
