A very collectable gold Guinea of King William and Mary, dated 1692. The conjoined bust of King William and Mary to the observe, with the Crowned Royal shield to the reverse. This popular series with collectors is the only British coin to have conjoined busts. William of Orange was invited to Britain to replace King James II and rule jointly with Mary (the daughter of King James the Second). Very minor signs of ex-mount and surface scratches to left of shield, otherwise a good example of a scarce guinea.
Obverse
Conjoined bust of William and Mary GVLEIMVS ET MARIA DEI GRATIA.
Reverse
Crowned royal shield of arms. Lion of Nassau at the centre. MAG BR FR ET HIB REX ET REGINA.
