In 2016 the Royal Mint produced 3 lots of proof £2 gold coins to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the death of author William Shakespeare. This is the Histories coin. This collector's coin is presented in a handsome box with certificate of authentication.
The 2016 Shakespeare Histories Proof gold £2 coin reverse features a sword and a crown. The obverse features the fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Jody Clark.
The Two Pound Gold Coin - sometimes referred to as the Double Sovereign - contains 14.63 grams of gold (twice the weight of a Gold Sovereign).
