In 2007 The Royal Mint issued a commemorative £2 proof gold coin to celebrate 300 years of the Act of Union between England and Scotland. The coin is provided with both the original Royal Mint box and certificate. Only 750 of these coins were issued.
The design was produced by the Scottish painter Yvonne Holton. It features four jigsaw components; two with the Portcullis design to represent the governments, and two pieces for each of the English Rose and Scottish Thistle. Due to her nationality you can find the artist initials YH just beneath the thistle.
