This 1993 Proof £5 coin (aka Quintuple Sovereign, or Crown) was issued for the 40th anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, who succeeded her father King George VI after his passing in 1952.
The coin was designed by Robert Elderton. On the front is the first portrait of Elizabeth II, as designed by Mary Gillick. Mounted trumpeters surround the Queen's head, with swords and sceptres to add to the pattern.
On the back is St. Edward's crown, used at the coronation, as well as 40 trumpets to symbolise 40 years as the monarch. The dates 1953 to 1993 appear, as well as an edge inscription of FAITH AND TRUTH I WILL BEAR UNTO YOU.
This proof five pound coin comes boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
