History of the Scouts:
The Scouts are an organisation designed to help youth development through physical activity, team building, and other elements of mental and spiritual education. The movement was the idea of Robert Baden-Powell, who was a retired Lieutenant General from the British Army. He founded the group in 1907.
The organisation operates all over the world, having been heavily promoted during the time of the British Empire, and boasts more than 38 million members in approximately 217 countries, states, and territories.
In the United Kingdom the patron of the Scouts is Queen Elizabeth II, while the Duchess of Cambridge is a volunteer Scout leader. The current Chief Scout is the adventurer and explorer, Bear Grylls.
