The 2007 gold proof Fifty Pence coin was released by the Royal Mint to celebrate 100 years of the Scouts. Only 1,250 of these coins were produced in proof format.

The reverse design was created by Kerry Jones and bears the Scouts motto of 'Be Prepared' as well as the World Scout Emblem. Jones has embellished the design with a globe partially visible behind the fleur-de-lis style logo. The Queen's portrait on the obverse (front) side was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley.

This proof 50p gold coin comes boxed with the certificate of authentication.

History of the Scouts:

The Scouts are an organisation designed to help youth development through physical activity, team building, and other elements of mental and spiritual education. The movement was the idea of Robert Baden-Powell, who was a retired Lieutenant General from the British Army. He founded the group in 1907.

The organisation operates all over the world, having been heavily promoted during the time of the British Empire, and boasts more than 38 million members in approximately 217 countries, states, and territories.

In the United Kingdom the patron of the Scouts is Queen Elizabeth II, while the Duchess of Cambridge is a volunteer Scout leader. The current Chief Scout is the adventurer and explorer, Bear Grylls.
