The 2017 proof gold 1oz Krugerrand coin. The coin is in mint condition and supplied in an attractive box, complete with certificate of authenticity from the South African Mint.
The coin was released to mark the 50th anniversary of the first 1oz gold Krugerrand, all the way back on July 3rd 1967. Since then almost 53.5 million ounces of gold have been sold within these coins, which remain a popular bullion coin to this day.
The 2017 50th Anniversary 1oz gold proof Krugerrand features a special Privy Mark on the reverse of the coin. This side also features a Springbok Antelope – one of the national symbols of South Africa – and was designed by Coert Steynberg. The obverse (front) of the coin depicts former South African president Paul Kruger.
These coins are still classed as legal tender by the South African government and are issued by the South African Reserve Bank. They are struck to proof quality by using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks for the striking process.
