The 2024 Year of the Dragon 1kg silver coin from Perth Mint.
The Perth Mint are known for the beautiful design of their coins and the design of the lunar series is always eagerly awaited by collectors. This year the design features a Chinese mythical dragon with stylized waves and fog by Ing Ing Jong of the Perth Mint.
The design includes the Chinese character for 'dragon,' the inscription 'DRAGON 2024,' and the 'P125' mintmark, marking The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary. The obverse features the Jody Clark Memorial obverse of Queen Elizabeth II, with details of her reign, the coin’s weight, purity, and monetary denomination, while a micro engraved authentication letter adds an extra layer of protection against counterfeiting.
This coin contains one kilogram of 999.9 fine silver, and has a face value of 30 Australian Dollars.
The year of the dragon runs from the 10th of February 2024 until the 28th of February 2025, dragons are considered the most lucky and auspicious symbol in Chinese folklore, it is said to represent power, nobility, honour, luck, and success.
