The British Crown Pre 1947 coin minted in .500 silver (50% silver and 50% copper Alloy).
Typically these are the 1935 George V Jubilee Crown and the 1937 George VI Coronation Crown but smaller quantities were also issued 1927-1934. These pre 1947 Crowns are much less common than the smaller denominations.
Random Year of our choice - you cannot choose a specific year or design. Coins are in fair condition and have been circulated so may have some marks present. This does not affect the bullion value of the silver and this is intended as a bullion investment product.
First issued in 1544 in Gold form, them from 1551 in Silver, the Crown has been struck many different British Monarchs and under the Cromwell protectorate. It fell from use during the 19th Century and was issued more for commemorative events like Coronations and Jubilees. In 1920 the silver alloy was changed from sterling .925 silver to .500 silver, before becoming a cupronickel only coin 1947-1967. The coin was withdrawn from circulation in 1970 and demonetized prior to decimalisation in 1971.
Each coin contains 14.14g of fine silver so it can be considered a similar unit to the 1/2oz (15.55g).
The coins 1920-1936 bear the left-facing effigy of George V by Bertram Mackennal. Those dated 1937-1946 bear the left-facing effigy of George VI by Thomas Humphrey Paget.
