The coins are pre-owned from prior years and are in good to fair condition, you will receive a random year of our choosing based on available stock. As with all our second hand silver coins - some will have marks or discolouration present - this is common for silver coins and does not affect their bullion value which should form the basis of your purchase.
Minted from 1997 - 2012, the British 1oz silver Britannia 958 bullion coin contains one troy ounce of fine silver, and is struck by The Royal Mint. There are various designs - all depicting Britannia the helmeted female warrior holding trident and shield. They have a face value of £2 making them CGT-free for UK investors.
They are referred to as 958 because they are 95.8% pure silver and 4.2% copper. The extra copper provides a lot more wear-resistance and durability compared to pure silver (this is the reason pure silver coins are rarely issued for circulation). With a total weight of 32.46g the coins are 4.2% heavier than pure silver 1oz coins (31.1g) on account of the extra copper.
