After hearing about her father's terrifying encounter with the big bad mouse in the original Gruffalo book his daughter sets out in search of the creature. Knowing only that 'The big bad mouse is terrible strong, his scaly tail is terribly long. His eyes are like pools of terrible fire, and his terrible whiskers are tougher than wire' the Gruffalo's child bravely sets off into the deep dark wood.

To mark 20 years since the launch of the timeless children's classic by Julia Donaldson, The Royal Mint have launched this special proof silver fifty pence. With a beautiful illustration by Axel Scheffler printed in full colour onto the coin this boxed 50p is sure to be popular with lovers of the children's classic.

The 2024 Gruffalo's Child proof silver 50p coin comes presented in a beautiful Royal Mint box and is accompanied by a booklet on the Gruffalo's Child story book. Production of this 2024 silver proof 50p has been limited to 7,500 coins.
