Description

An 1854 Half Sovereign from the reign of Queen Victoria. This half sovereign features the young head design by William Wyon on the obverse and the shield design on the reverse.

The lack of mintmark denotes this coin was produced at the London Mint. The mintage of these Half Sovereign gold coins was 1,125,144, but very few examples are known to still exist, making it one of the rarest half sovereigns in existence.
