Description

An 1857 Half Sovereign from the reign of Queen Victoria. This half sovereign features the young head design by William Wyon on the obverse and the shield design on the reverse.

The lack of mintmark denotes this coin was produced at the London Mint. Approximately 728,223 of these Half Sovereign gold coins were produced, making it a fairly uncommon coin.
