Description

An 1864 Half Sovereign from the reign of Queen Victoria. This Half Sovereign features the young head design by William Wyon on the obverse and the shield design on the reverse.

The lack of mintmark denotes this coin was produced at the London Mint. Approximately 1,758,490 of these Half Sovereign gold coins were produced, making it a fairly common coin.

This was the first year that all Half Sovereigns carried a die number. The die number can be seen on the reverse of the coin, at the bottom in the middle, between the flower stops on its left and right.

You may not receive the actual coin pictured but rest assured you will receive a great looking coin.
