Description

An 1887 half Sovereign from the reign of Queen Victoria. This half sovereign features the Young head design by William Wyon on the obverse and the shield design on the reverse.

The 'M' mintmark denotes that the coin was minted at the Melbourne Mint in Australia. This mintmark is found on the obverse of the coin, at the bottom and in between the two flower stops to its left and right.

Approximately 64,013 of these Half Sovereign gold coins were produced, and it is a very rare coin to come across today.
