Description

This is a $5 gold coin, produced by the Ottawa Mint in Canada between 1912 and 1914. The Mint was making British Sovereigns at the time, as denoted by the 'C' as the mint-mark found on the Sovereign. These coins are slightly heavier than Sovereigns though at 8.36 grams - and at 900 purity, it contains 7.52 grams of pure gold. The coin series was not highly minted - around 300,000 of these were produced during the three-year period.

The obverse of the coin features the wording: GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND: IMP: with the reverse of the coin states the country CANADA and FIVE DOLLARS.
