Description

1987 Hong Kong $1000 Gold coin Year of the Rabbit. The obverse of the coin features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

This thousand dollar gold coin series was first minted for the Queen's visit to Hong Kong in 1975. The coin proved popular, as they were minted each year until 1987, and a few special years after that. Each year features the specific animal from the Chinese lunar calendar except the 1986 version to celebrate the Royal Visit of Queen Elizabeth II.
