This product is supplied as 'coin only' in a plastic capsule. There is no box or certificate.

Struck by the Royal Mint for St Helena, the One Mohur is a gold coin inspired by the original Indian and Pakistani Mohur coins.

The obverse bears the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the sovereign of St Helena, while the reverse imitates the lion and palm tree that famously appeared on the Mohur coins since 1835. The lion is a nod to Sher Shah Suri, also known as Sher Khan - the Lion King. The emperor founded the Sur Empire in Northern India and .

The 11.66g weight is the equivalent of 180 grains, as was historically the correct weight of the Mohur coins in the Indian subcontinent stretching back as long as 1540.

The East India (Trading) Company were arguably the first global corporation, and such was their size and influence that King Charles II granted them permission to mint coins for the territories they either administer or operated in heavily - the latter requiring partnerships with local mints. This is how the East India Company Mohur came to exist in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
