2023 Proof 50p Gold Coin 75 Years of the NHS Boxed

This special 2023 NHS gold Proof Fifty Pence coin is released to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. The NHS has been providing essential care to millions of people since its establishment on 5 July 1948 and has played a pivotal role, especially during the challenges faced with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Designed by Alice Lediard, the reverse side of the coin features a design reflecting the appreciation felt for the dedication and hard work of NHS workers, both past and present. The design includes meaningful words that pay tribute to the care and devotion exhibited by these healthcare professionals. The obverse bears the portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings.

The 2023 NHS proof gold 50p coin is minted in 22-carat rose gold to a beautiful proof finish and comes packaged in its own presentation box with a fascinating booklet on the history of the NHS. It serves as a heartfelt tribute to the NHS, commemorating one of Britain's most respected institutions and celebrating the exceptional service provided by NHS staff throughout the years.

The Royal Mint will donate 100% of the net proceeds of the sales of these coins to NHS charities.
