A 2020 Britannia one ounce gold coin from The Royal Mint.
Gold Britannias are the most popular one ounce gold coin for larger UK-based private investors, as they are both exempt from Capital Gains Tax and VAT-free as investment gold.
A British bullion gold coin first introduced in 1987 with a face value of £100 as a 22 carat coin. Since 2012, the Britannia is now a fine gold coin made in 24 carat.
The 2020 1oz gold Britannia features the fifth and most recent portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, first introduced in 2015. It was designed by The Royal Mint's own engraver, Jody Clark, and - like the third portrait - sees the Queen wearing the King George IV State Diadem. This is the crown that is typically worn for the annual State Opening of Parliament.
All of our coins are sent out in protective plastic capsules, though every 10 coins will be grouped in a protective Royal Mint coin tube.
