This Proof gold £5 coin was issued in 2011 to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine (Kate) Middleton, who would become the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
It is only the second royal wedding commemorative coin to be issued with up to 3,000 maximum coins minted by the Royal Mint. The first issue was to commemorate the wedding of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.
The coin reverse was designed by Mark Richards, while the obverse bears the fourth official portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley.
This mint-condition Five Pound Proof gold coin (also known as a Crown, or Quintuple Sovereign) is beautifully packaged in a wooden case with felt lining and also carries a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
The Royal Mint issued two £5 proof gold coins in 2011; this Royal Wedding coin and the Duke of Edinburgh's 90th birthday coin.
