The American Gold Eagle is a .900 purity circulated gold coin that was produced between 1795 and 1933. This Liberty Head edition was the primary version, and was minted between 1838 and 1907.
The Gold Eagle contains 0.48375 troy ounces of fine gold, or 15.04 grams. The coin, at 900.0 purity, is a little less than 22-carat purity and weighs a total of 16.71 grams approximately.
The coin features the Eagle on the reverse side, with the motto 'In God We Trust', as well as the Ten Dollar face value. The obverse (front) side of the coin bears Lady Liberty's head, the year of issue, and 13 stars representing the original 13 British colonies on the east coast of America that declared independence in 1776.
